McKenzie Borst is a licensed teacher based in Indiana with a passion for both education and family life. She enjoys baking and taking walks with her family. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in Psychology from Taylor University, McKenzie spent five years teaching elementary school. Laura Sharpe is a graduate of Samford University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/ Elementary/ Special Education. Tricia earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Wellness, Rehabilitation, and Activity Therapy from Eastern Michigan University and an associate degree in the field of Occupational Therapy from Macomb Community College. She is TESOL certified and owns a virtual ESL business serving students in Asia. Since 2018, she has taught nearly 50,000 virtual ESL classes.
Tricia’s traditionally published children’s book, starring a protagonist with Down syndrome, was inspired by her volunteer work tutoring within the Down syndrome community. Tricia has also served in children’s ministry, mentored at-risk youth, and teaches free Bible lessons to children in China.
Tricia’s background in occupational therapy influences her student-centered approach, and she values making learning fun while building lasting relationships with her students. In fact, many of her ESL families have been with her since 2018.

Wayne is a retired public school teacher. He spent 31 years at an elementary school in Washington State, so he’s familiar with a wide range of subject matter. Most of his classes were 5th grade, but he also taught 2nd grade for nine years. He would also be comfortable working with middle school students. Presently, Wayne lives near Abilene, Kansas, with his wife and their youngest daughter. They moved to Kansas following his retirement to be close to his wife’s family and enjoy a peaceful life in the country. The opportunity to openly incorporate his faith in Jesus Christ with academic instruction motivated Wayne to want to join the Family Focused Tutors team. Angela (Teacher Angie) Williams is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies (secondary education), with a concentration in English Literature. She has over 20 years of overall teaching experience. And, 7 of those 20 years have been as an EFL/ESL instructor. Angela was tasked with the duties of curriculum development, lead teaching, and teacher training at her local church’s children’s ministry. Mari is passionate about honoring the Lord in all that she does and bringing God and His Word into every lesson. Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Central Washington University and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics from Southern Evangelical Seminary. She taught in both public and private school settings before home schooling her daughter for ten years. In her final three years of home school, she established and managed a local home school co-op focused on enrichment classes for upper school kids. She has taught classes in co-op settings for nearly every age level, and she has also worked as a home education consultant to new home school families. After graduating, Nicholas moved to Jordan to teach at a small Christian school. From there, he relocated to South Africa, where he continued expanding his experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. He found through this experience that he loves teaching English and the Bible, because the Bible is the truth that can really change students’ hearts and minds.
Currently, Nicholas works for Teach Beyond, leading the Sparrow Project, a teacher-training program for educators in under-resourced schools.

Caitlin Callahan was homeschooled from kindergarten through twelfth grade, giving her firsthand experience with the homeschool journey. In 2025, she earned her B.A. in Writing from Point Loma Nazarene University. During college, Caitlin worked as a proofreader and copyeditor for a local APWU newsletter, interned with the Christian publishing company Calla Press Publishing, and wrote as a student contributor for Fastweb.
Today, Caitlin teaches at a private art studio, working with students ages five and up. She also serves as a yearbook advisor and will begin teaching British Literature this fall. Her experience in writing, editing, and education allows her to bring both creativity and strong communication skills to her lessons.

Tammy graduated from Azusa Pacific University with her California teaching credential and also from Western Illinois University with a major in Spanish, a minor in French, and significant coursework in Bilingual/Bicultural Education and ESL. Having served as a missionary in the inner city of Los Angeles, she has taught elementary, middle, and high school students in a variety of geographical locations from the inner city of Los Angeles to towns in south-central Wisconsin. In addition to helping students reach their full potential academically, Tammy is passionate about helping youth discover their identity in Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. Once children know the Lord and know who they are in the Lord, they can really soar. Tammy’s educational philosophy is that all children are capable of learning, and sometimes that requires content and concepts in different ways until it clicks. Javier Taylor was born in Fayetteville, AR and is a graduate of Farmington High School. He received an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Systems Technology degree in 1995 from the Community College of the Air Force and Bachelor of Applied Science in Biblical Studies from Bethany Bible College in 1998 while serving in the United States Air Force. Two years later he received a B.A. in Mathematics from Thomas A. Edison State University in preparation to teach secondary mathematics in Richardson, TX. Javier later worked as a technical writer and curriculum developer for the Air Force before serving as head of the mathematics department at Canyon Creek Christian Academy in Richardson, TX. Javier and his wife Crystal moved back to Arkansas in the Summer of 2004 to pursue teaching opportunities in the River Valley, where he later completed an M.A. in Teaching from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 2006. Javier worked at Pottsville high school as a secondary math teacher and then served as a state mathematics specialist first at Arkansas Tech University, and then at the Guy Fenter Education Service Cooperative in Branch, AR. From 2010 to 2016 Javier studied Mathematics Education at The University of Central Arkansas and In 2018 Javier earned a Ph.D. in Christian Education from Bethany Seminary. Javier serves as an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR. In 2022 Javier earned a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Michigan Technical University.

Elisabeth graduated in 2019 with a triple major in computer science, math, and statistics. She worked in children’s ministry for several years on the mission field, which included summer programs for underprivileged children. Additionally, she recently wrote an ebook on stewarding the single years well. Bryan McDonald earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Columbus State University and his Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Pensacola Christian College. He has worked in Christian education since 2010. He served six years as a full-time teacher and seven years as a school administrator at Grace Christian School in Columbus, Georgia. For the past two years, he has served as a pastor in rural Illinois while teaching and tutoring part-time at a local Christian school.
Over the last fifteen years, Bryan has taught a wide range of subjects from 6th through 12th grade. He enjoys helping students discover how learning connects to both life and faith. Bryan and his wife, Danielle, homeschool their seven children, ages 5 to 13, and they stay joyfully busy balancing ministry, family, and education. He is deeply passionate about both Christ and education, believing that every lesson is an opportunity to help young people grow in wisdom and character. Outside the classroom, Bryan enjoys working with technology and reading biographies of U.S. presidents and books on historical events.

Baylee is originally from Virginia. She holds a B.S. in Human Services from Old Dominion University and an M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Lynchburg. She is currently pursuing her reading endorsement through Virginia Commonwealth University.
Baylee began her career as a Special Education teacher in a middle school setting, where she served for four years. She then transitioned to a new public school division and now works as a reading interventionist for students in grades 6 through 8.
She has received training in Orton-Gillingham and has completed both Part 1 and Part 2 of the LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) program.
Outside of teaching and tutoring, Baylee enjoys spending quality time with her three children. Her family is active in their church community, where they attend services regularly and enjoy fellowship with their church family. As both a teacher and a parent, Baylee finds inspiration in her favorite Bible verse:
Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Shannon Greaves is an experienced educator and curriculum designer with over 35 years in teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies. A graduate of UW Madison, she has taught middle-school, high school, and college-age students in both classrooms and online. She specializes in helping students strengthen their writing, reading comprehension, critical thinking, study skills and their historical worldview. Shannon also supports learners with executive functioning skills such as organization, planning, and time management, equipping them with tools to thrive beyond the classroom.
In addition to her work directly with students, Shannon has designed cross-curricular projects (recastthepast.com) and interactive curriculum that bring history and literature to life. She also has extensive experience assessing learning at both the individual and institutional level, ensuring that instruction meets students where they are and helps them move forward with confidence. She has a special passion for working with neurodivergent learners and creating flexible strategies that bring out each student’s best work. Outside of teaching, Shannon enjoys music, genealogy, going to air shows (EAA member), and practicing martial arts. She is excited to partner with families to encourage students and help them grow through engaging, supportive learning experiences.

Tim is an experienced mathematics educator who is passionate about helping students understand challenging concepts, improve their grades and scores, and achieve their academic goals. As a public high school teacher, Tim has worked with students across a wide range of abilities, from AP Statistics students to Algebra I students with learning disabilities. He believes every student deserves respect, care, and the opportunity to be successful.
Education has played an important role in Tim’s own life. After joining the U.S. Navy, he was able to pursue a college education and became the first person in his immediate family to graduate from college. This experience strengthened his desire to help students recognize the opportunities education can provide and encourage them to work toward their own goals.
Tim holds a B.S.E. in Computer Engineering from Tulane University and a M.Ed. in Mathematics Education from the University of South Alabama. He holds a current Alabama teaching certificate in Mathematics for grades 6-12. He currently teaches and tutors mathematics online and enjoys making challenging concepts approachable through creative and engaging instruction.

Our teachers are trained with a variety of backgrounds but hold the same heart of supporting students academically and through prayer.
Our tutors have taught in a variety of settings, including public schools, Christian schools, homeschool co-ops, small group tutoring, 1-on-1 tutoring and even homeschooling their own children!
